and Mobile Phone
In Manado - North Sulawesi, local people who want
to make a phone call always use Warung Telkom (Wartel,
a shop providing call-making services. Like a phone
booth, except this is a shop with several booths
instead). But right now, Mobile Phone is more populer
in Manado city. In Manado, for the Pre-paid card,
they normally use SIMPATI ( Telkomsel
), kartu AS ( Telkomsel ), and Mentari. The card
is very affordable. You can get one with stored
value of only Rp 25.000 or arround 3 or 4 U$. 2
years ago, it was quite expensive, around Rp 400.000
or USD 60 to get the cheapest pre-paid card. The
best way for you is to bring your cell phone and
buy the pre-paid card of SIMPATI or MENTARI here.
When you want to make a phone call from Manado to
your country DIAL 007+country code+... or you can
call 101 and ask for their help to dial your numbers.
You can make a call from you cell phone, BUT be
carefull because making a phone call from Manado
to your country uses both facilities ( Mobile Phone
and Wartel ), which is EXTREMELY Expensive (maybe
USD6 per min). If you choose to use a wartel, take
note of price meter in front of you ( in Wartel
) while you are talking :)
