In Manado - North Sulawesi, there are two online
newspapers, Manado
Post and Harian
Komentar. Unfortunately both Manado newspapers
are not in English. For those who like to read Indonesia
News in English pls read the
Jakarta Post or other news like Tempo
Interactive. At least you know about Indonesia
before you come :) One important thing for you,
if you plan to visit Manado city, and you see or
read in the newspapers online that something happen
in Jakarta - Java, Sumatra or whereever EXCEPT North
Sulawesi area, please do not worry because North
Sulawesi is always safe for International Visitors.
Indonesia is a big country with thousands of islands.
Manado and Jakarta are about as far apart as London
and Rome. Almost 80 % the people from Manado North
Sulawesi are Christian, and we live peacefully together
with our Moslem, Buddhist and Hindu neighbours.
We always respect each other. When you are in Manado,
you will find many locals smiling at you. That's
why some of the web information on Manado have their
motto "Welcome to the Land of Smiling People " ;)
